Students visit industrial park on 4th Capital SOE Open Day
2019-06-06

University students participated in this year's Capital State-owned Enterprise Open Day on June 2, exploring waste recycling in local hi-tech enterprises.

Students and faculty members from Beijing International Studies University, Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology, and Beijing College of Finance and Commerce visit local waste disposal enterprise on the 4th Capital State-owned Enterprise Open Day last Sunday.
Students and faculty members from universities in Beijing stepped out of their campuses on June 2 to visit an industrial park engaged in the circular economy in suburban Tongzhou District, as part of their exploration of waste recycling and the operation mode of modern renewable energy businesses.
As one of the 126 activities of this year's Capital State-owned Enterprise (SOE) Open Day, this visit was hosted by Dynagreen, a Beijing-based hi-tech enterprise with investment by the Beijing State-owned Assets Management Cooperation (BSAM)。
Focusing on the industrial environmental protection and waste treatment, Dynagreen is also the first enterprise in China to introduce the internationally-advanced technology on waste incineration to the domestic market.
The industrial park for a circular economy involves investment by Dynagreen and the government of Tongzhou District under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. The first phrase of its project consists of equipment such as waste-to-energy plant, slag landfill, sewage treatment plant and a slag brick making machine.
The park's daily waste disposal capacity has reached 2,250 tons; and the annual amount of waste incineration has reached 750,000 tons, generating electricity of 200 million kWh and reducing coal consumption by nearly 100,000 tons and carbon dioxide emissions by almost 200,000 tons annually. This provides strong support for improving the environment for living, working and investment in Beijing's suburbs.
With the help of augmented reality (AR) technology, students have learned about the complete process of waste recycling notably in waste collection, incineration, gas purification and electricity generation through turbines.
A guide conducting the students around the exhibition hall of waste disposal equipment explained: “When operated at full load, these turbines can generate 1.2 million kWh electricity every day.”
Information concerning the current situation of pollution from human activities was also presented during the tour. In addition, a 3R principle of reducing, reusing and recycling were introduced to better control waste produced in daily life.
